Abstract
This article explores some considerations as result of research that aimed to build a "cartography" of cultural public policies during the 1990s and early 2000s. It offers an analysis of the continuities or redefinitions of meanings, orientations and interventions in the artistic-cultural field by local public authorities, attempting to acknowledge those that were inserted in a larger framework according to international conditions. Also, are briefly examined some debates around the character that cultural policies should take over after dictatorships in South America and then under globalization process. This is a case study located in the city of Córdoba (Argentina) focused on the shift from nationally based proposals to strategies that involve a revaluation of the local experiences. Finally, it considers the contributions of transdisciplinary Political and Cultural History and a heterogeneous corpus made up of documentary materials, journalistic and oral sources.
