Abstract

The article offers a backward look that highlights and analyzes two central aspects. On the one hand, the incorporation of football as a cultural asset in Argentina and its impact on socialization modes, mainly the role of the club in a national stage that fluctuated as a result of the migratory waves of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries; on the other hand, the history of the Atlético River Plate Club from its founding to the present day, emphasizing those cultural, symbolic and territorial aspects that have contributed to the identity construction of the institution.
