Transmedia Productions in Argentinean National Universities: A Look at Their Main Current Uses

Abstract

With the emergence of convergence and digitalization processes new experiences highlight a dynamics that goes beyond the practices of production and consumption of academic works. The university ¬¬¬–where the legitimate science discourse stems– has started to include hypertext structures (successors of written text and books, typical of the transmission-based pedagogical paradigm), reshaping institutional spaces of irrefutable symbolic values, and redefining the role of the receptor.
In this study, we focus in transmedia-based narrative experiences, outstanding three uses within the Argentinean university context: as a pedagogical, press and documentary tool. We will discuss experiences that took place in public universities, synthesizing local projects to ask ourselves about new ways to produce and communicate knowledges, and reflect upon the role of the user in interactive modalities.
