Editorial Policies
The editorial policies of Revista Mediaciones outline the principles and standards that guide its commitment to quality, ethics, and accessibility in scientific publishing. As part of the School of Creativity, Communication, and Culture of the Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios – UNIMINUTO, the journal adheres to international standards in academic content management, ensuring transparency in the editorial process, open access, and the compliance with best practices. These policies meet the high-quality requirements for indexing in national, continental, and international databases.
EDITORIAL PRINCIPLES
1. Originality and Exclusivity
Submitted articles must be original, unpublished, and not under evaluation elsewhere. Every manuscript undergoes plagiarism checks to ensure authenticity, rejecting duplicate works or those previously published in other journals.
2. Double-Blind Peer Review
The journal follows a double-blind peer review system, where external experts evaluate each manuscript for relevance, rigor, and scientific quality. This process ensures objectivity and maintains confidentiality of authors and reviewers during the evaluation.
3. Open Access and Copyright
All articles are available in open access under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, authorized by the authors, allowing digital reproduction and distribution. Authors retain their moral and intellectual rights, while the journal holds a usage license for review and style corrections, exempting UNIMINUTO from ethical responsibilities regarding the content.
4. Editorial Ethics and Best Practices
The journal adheres to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to promote transparency, integrity, and honesty in the publishing process. Authors must declare any conflicts of interest, and reviewers must maintain confidentiality of the manuscript during evaluation.
5. Transparency and Conflict of Interest
Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose potential conflicts of interest to ensure objectivity in the editorial process and scientific publication, benefiting the credibility of the journal.
6. Acceptance Criteria and Scientific Quality
Only articles that significantly contribute to the field of communication, with high thematic relevance and robust methodologies, are published. Selected articles must contribute to the academic and professional knowledge in communication.
7. Self-Archiving and Dissemination
Authors are allowed to self-archive their articles in institutional and personal repositories, as long as they acknowledge the initial publication in Revista Mediaciones. This practice enhances the visibility and permanent access to scientific content.
8. Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence
To ensure integrity and accuracy, the use of generative AI must be declared by authors, limited to language improvement functions. AI should not be used to interpret data or draw conclusions, and reviewers should not employ generative AI in the review process.
9. Standardization and Style Norms
All citations and references must follow the APA 7th edition format, and each reference must be verifiable. The UNESCO Thesaurus is recommended for terminological consistency in writing.
10. Commitment to International Declarations
Revista Mediaciones supports and adheres to the following international declarations to promote integrity and access in scientific communication:
-
- MUSIC: Universal Manifesto on Scientific Initiation.
- San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA).
- Helsinki Initiative on Multilingualism in Scholarly Communication.
- Manifesto on Science as a Global Public Good: Non-Commercial Open Access.
11. No APC or Processing Fees
Publication in Revista Mediaciones is completely free for authors. No article processing charges (APC) or any other fees are applied related to the evaluation, correction, or publication of articles. Authors do not have to pay any charges for the evaluation, correction, or publication of their articles.
