From distracting to instructive: some approaches to the use of historical cartoon in history teaching

Abstract

Based on a approchement to history of comic and the characteristics of historical comics, this article reflects about the potentialities of genre as a generator of alternative historical representations. As a tool for understanding the concepts of time and space, a source to deconstruct stereotypes, and an instrument for the development of educational skills, the historical comics are useful in the training of active and critical students.
