Implementing soft artificial intelligence in libraries: do the potential benefits outweigh the challenges in today's knowledge society?

Main Article Content

Abstract

This paper aims to defend the position in favor of implementing soft artificial intelligence as a way to improve the efficiency of library services, understood as institutions created to meet the social needs of information users, especially within the context of today's knowledge society. A series of arguments are presented that demonstrate the benefits of integrating this new technology into the work of librarians, such as time and cost optimization, improved service quality, and enhanced information retrieval. Some counterarguments are also addressed, and an alternative or response to these points is proposed. The conclusion is that implementing processes with artificial intelligence in the library context will be highly beneficial, provided certain enabling conditions are met.
