Saving Environmental Education to Build Eco Citizenships: Scenarios of the Costa Rican Context in Public Education in Secondary School
Main Article Content
Abstract
The environmental crisis defined within the crisis of the civilizing order shows that the ethical debate is missing the defense of the different ways of human and non-human life. This absence is typical of an economic system that maximizes the benefits it gets out of nature, while diverts attention from issues such as conservation, environmental awareness and environmental education. Given this situation, the purpose of this article is to reflect on the need and importance of saving environmental education, particularly in Costa Rica, taking into consideration the necessary fostering of educational policies in the quest for the construction of eco citizenships, which so far have been restricted to discourses resulting from green economy.
