Abstract

This paper analyzes the relations and tensions between the practices of ethno-education and the ways in which the Curripaco indians transmit their wisdom, and their articulation in the ethno-education processes at the Institución Educativa Filintro, in the Sabanitas community. The research follows an epistemological and hermeneutic approach, and the narrative method through the use of fieldnotes and semi-structured interviews. The results show that there is a connection between ethno-education and the transmission of ancient wisdom, and that both entail an effort to contribute to education for diversity and cultural survival. However, the authors also found evidences of tensions between ethno-education as a written policy and its lack of applicability in real-life, and between ancestral wisdom and its articulation in ethno-education
