Abstract

This article’s aim is to explain the process of institutionalizing urban planning in Bogotá during the first half of the Twentieth Century. Following an analysis of municipal policy and the bureaucratic structure upon which the official planning bodies were established, it is concluded that during this period the administrative foundations were set for the creation and execution of urbanization and urban planning projects in the capital city of Colombia.
