Human rights and intercultural dialogue: rethinking asymmetric relations among cultures

Abstract
This article seeks to problematize, from an interdisciplinary perspective, the notions of difference, diversity, culture, otherness and equality, notions both with an intrinsic relation between cultures and of the human rights’ practice. Based on the experience of marginalized and invisible subjects and groups from spaces for interaction and dialogue between different cultures —as in the case analyzed in my PhD thesis on indigenous peoples of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta—this paper argues about possibility of rethinking the strained relations and conflict between human rights and intercultural dialogue.
