Abstract
The following article provides a general overview of the most relevant discussion surrounding social research. Initially this paper presents the key to structuring social research as a relatively autonomous practice; a process that began in the sixteenth century which came to be consolidated as late as the nineteenth century. In addition, the article provides an explanation of the greatest paradigms that permitted social research to be autonomous, emphasizing the crucial role of method and methodology.Finally, the article presents the criticisms of the methodologism and its effects on social research, particularly through the introduction of new references when carrying out research on the social world. As a matter of fact, one of the effects of these criticisms is that it brought to light the social research among literary methodology and genres.
