The most ancient seminar of complexity in Latin America
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper presents and discusses the history of the most ancient seminar on the sciences of complexity in Latin America – along with its dynamics and structure. The methodology used here is self-ethnography. Several similar experiences in Latin America were considered; however, there is not any other analogous seminar regarding continuity or antiquity, and certainly not clear-cut products, either. This paper is ultimately about self-ethnography. The conclusion the author arrives at is that a research seminar is worthy on the basis of a twofold characteristic, namely its permanence in time and the products it fostered. In research we can identify two kinds of products: tangible and intangible. The bibliography included at the end is an account of tangible products, thus: books, chapters of books, papers. An intangible product consists in producing further courses or similar activities.
