Mothers of the "Plaza de Mayo" (1976-1984): multiple spaces in the formation of public opinion

Abstract

The aim of this article is to show how public opinion can be formed through public mediation. This paper illustrates the formation of public opinion in the case of the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo. The hypothesis is that in this case, the formation of public opinion was developed through the mediation of the public that was generating an agenda in different media. This topic is developed in the following way: it illustrates how the “Fundación Madres Plaza de Mayo” was created and what activities they did to establish topics on the mass media. Finally, this paper shows how the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo influenced the creation of public opinion using the mediation.
