Abstract

This article is divided into two sections. In the first, he will realize how it is that the state conceived by Hobbes has as its main objective to ensure security in political society. However, the detail to be considered is that this way of raising the scope of the State ends up significantly displacing other state goals (the common good, happiness, protection of freedoms, etc.), which, however, had a special relevance in the Philosophical-political projects of the classical tradition and not a few contemporary philosophers with Hobbes. For this reason, the Leviathan State is minimal in relation to possible intervention in areas such as social and economic, but expansive in terms of measures that can be taken to ensure security.

On the other hand, the second section will establish a relationship between this Hobbesian State and the contemporary advance of neoliberal States legitimated almost exclusively by their police role in an international scenario marked by fear and insecurity.
