Teaching philosophy in the IB: a pedagogical reflection from Colegio Minuto de Dios Siglo XXI

Abstract

This article examines the implementation of philosophy teaching within the International Baccalaureate (IB) at Colegio Minuto de Dios Siglo XXI, focusing on how IB principles and methodologies contribute to philosophy education in a globalized context. Three key aspects are discussed: the fundamental principles of the IB, the pedagogical practice in the classroom, and the thinking
routines used to foster a philosophical attitude among students. The study highlights the importance of developing writing and critical reading skills, as well as the need to adapt teaching to a dynamic, multicultural educational environment. The analysis concludes by reflecting on the challenges and opportunities of implementing IB in the Colombian educational system, suggesting
that this approach could offer a significant renewal in the teaching of philosophy, aligned with the demands of the 21st century
