Abstract

Most of the systematic and traditional approaches make the teaching of reading and writing in the classroom somehow complex. For this reason, one of the greatest challenges for teachers trying to motivate their students to read comprehensively and produce school texts has been to find alternative  methodologies which enhance significantly this process.

This paper is the result of the research project “Didactic strategies to build up the reading and writing process”, conducted at the Liceo Psicopedagógico Montessori, in Chocontá (Cundinamarca). Its purpose was to show the difficulties some students had in communicative competences such as reading comprehension and text production. The authors developed a didactic strategy to improve those aspects.
