Formal Logic, Critical Thinking and Situated Cognition
Main Article Content
Abstract
In this essay it is proposed that the teaching of formal logic, based on the development of essential critical thinking skills, should be framed within situational teaching (or situated cognition) through the analysis and evaluation of authentic arguments that swarm in immediate reality, to account for the limits and scope that the formal logic has. The pedagogical
consequence of this is to show a logic that transcends itself to be validated as a useful tool for the analysis and evaluation of arguments, and then, in its immanence, retracts to recognize itself as fallible and in continuous revision of being able or not being registered in relation to the development of critical thinking skills.
