Abstract

The relation between massacres and displacement is commonly accepted: when there are massacres, displacement happens. However, to examine this affirmation it is essential to examine theoretically what is meant by “massacre”, and from there to define its actual effects on displacement. The present article is intended to clarify this inference and determine whether there always is displacement when a massacre is consummated. This articulation can be shown to the extent that we define it as it is used in the writing, based on the repertoires present in a given massacre and how it is articulated with the phenomena of forced displacement.
