Abstract

This project was developed by the Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios UNIMINUTO and the Technological University of Pereira UTP, between 2019 and 2020, and aimed to analyze the socioeconomic determinants and motivation of consumption in the Agroecological Market UTP "Food for Life" - MAUTPAPV in Pereira, Risaralda, from the application of a survey to 86 buyers. MAUTPAPV consumers include mostly young adults, women, university students, natural and applied sciences, employees, university administrators, lower-middle stratum, with households of two to three people, who prefer email to communicate; Their main motivation for consumption is that they are local, artisan and traditional products, and the main limitation is prices. In conclusion, two large consumer segments were identified: faithful and occasional, presenting two challenges for the market: strengthening consumer education, and improving prices and sustainable market frequency.
